This piccolo can not be expressed in words. The 8th octave C, the hardest note to get out on any picc just slips out. All the notes come out crisp and clean. It has such an amazing sound. The tuning does not change on any note. They are all in tune so there is no need to compensate anywhere in your playing. The keys and framework of this piccolo is very durable. I have found that the Yamaha are very poor in this region. A Yamaha needs more repairs. I have had this piccolo for 2 years now and I haven't had to repair it once. It comes in a very french leather case with a carrying bad lined with wool. I have tested a piccolo that they were asking $6000 for and it didn't play as well as this. This is the best piccolo out so far. I wont play on anything else.

First I would just like to say don't look at the price. Just go by what you hear. The higher price you go doesn't always mean it is better as you may have possibly herd before. I am not kidding I play on a Yamaha flute and then I play on this piccolo. I tried 10 piccolos before buy one and just at the last moment when I thought I was going to get the Bulgheroni piccolo which was somewhere around 3000 on here now and then the sales rep. told me o we just got these in and it was the Emerson Boston legacy piccolo. I tried it and I was blown away the highest note which is C came out like nothing, it just slipped out. The biggest thing I loved was that it was in tune on EVERY note from the highest to the lowest notes. I have never herd of anyone that could honestly say that. The best piccolo sound I have herd. The BEST bang for your buck. To me this is a cheap price to pay for what you get. You would pay about twice this price to get anywhere near what you get with this piccolo.

Wow I just can't believe the sound and how easy this instrument is to play. The high notes just slip right out and the lows are just as clear as all the other note. My teacher has this piccolo and she let me play it for a while and I was amazed by the difference. I played the high G on my piccolo and then the one on hers and to Emerson just let the note slip right out. It was also really fun to play, after playing it I just had to look into getting one of these. Love it!!!!

I recently ordered this piccolo through wwbw and it is amazing, much better than i could have dreamed, the tone is absoulutly beautiful and pretty easy to play. I recomend the piccolo to anyone who wants a really great piccolo with an amazing tone. Definitly worth the money!

I have played the piccolo for 29 years. I've had so many that I can't remember them all. Recently I decided to go try some to see how the new ones are playing. I was delighted to find this piccolo! The Emerson Boston Legacy piccolo has such a beautiful, sweet sound! None of the others play better. I tried many brands and narrowed it down to two. After playing the Emerson and the Yamaha back and forth for an hour, I decided that the Emerson had a much nicer sound and much better low notes. Also, the Emerson has more personality and soul (if that makes any sense)! I purchased the Emerson Boston Legacy in Blackwood because the sound is smooth and dark. After one month of daily playing I find that it can be played in a variety of styles including softly and sensitively with ease. I would recommend this piccolo to anybody, but don't try one unless you can buy it--these piccolos are that good.

I wrote a review for this piccolo in the Ultimo Piccolo section. I use a piccolo but in the Ironwood version here at school. It sounds wonderful. The High notes come out with clarity, beauty and extreme ease. The Low notes with flexibility and projection. I can produce the high trills especially the 3 octave G-A trill which is extremely difficult on piccolos that obtain the split-E option. Although this piccolo doesn't have it, it won't really matter. This particular grenadilla piccolo has a darker broader sound. Ironwood has both bright and dark elements in it. Perfect for the concert band, wind ensemble, and orchestra settings. The High notes speak and the player has complete control with less shrill than many other products on the market. I truly believe it belongs along the higher end categories in flutes and piccolos (Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, burkhart, hammig). Emerson has definitely come back into business and I'm loving every bit of the piccolo that I perform on. Keep up the good work Emerson Company!
