A seriously LOUD combo for the demanding pro.

Based on the venerable Bassman 400C, the Fender 400 PRO Bass Combo Amp is a 350W combo that drives a pair of cast-frame Eminence 10" speakers. It'll deliver all the growl and punch you could desire. Tweaking is achieved via the 5-band EQ which includes a 3-band semi-parametric with gain control and on/off switch. Other controls include an Enhance switch to emphasize highs and lows, variable compressor, Room Balance, and a mute switch. Other enhancements include a built-in Korg DTR-1000 rackmount tuner, balanced XLR line out with pre/post EQ switch, ground lift and level control for line out, tuner output, effects loop, and a single-button footswitch for EQ. The ruggedly constructed cab is covered in Ozite industrial carpeting, has stackable corners, and removable casters.

This particular Fender combo amp baffled me at first, but then I saw the overall value in its concept. The two 10” speakers didn't seem to have that full bass presence that I was looking for, and I was confused as to why Fender would choose this speaker arrangement for a bass amp. The mystery was solved when I plugged the Bassman 115 cabinet into the available 400 watts of power. The 10’s gave excellent depth to the midrange and the 15 in the cab gave that thunder from down under you need from a good bass amp. You could still practice with the two 10’s, but when you need to go all the way to 11 you better have that cabinet hooked up or the 10’s will distort somewhat. This is an extremely versatile combo. The 400 watts of power and variety of hookups give it the ability to drive cabinets, hook up to PA’s, and power effects. For my applications I went with the Bassman 200, but the 400 is a great amp for big venues and is versatile enough to be the only bass amp you'll ever need. I will say that my experience with the loner 400 and cab I used was more than positive, but if you're considering this 400 combo you should get the 15” cab for the full effect.

This amp has excellent sound. When I play with my band the sound is booming. With the 5 band equalizer I can get any sound I want. Plus it has the Korg tuner built in it which is a big plus. I can't explain how good this amp sounds. You need to go try it out for yourself to see what I mean.
