I purchased a 335 satin about 6 months ago on a whim, a little leary of a new Gibsons quality on a slightly lower line. Having played a 335 in the early 70's, I was amazed that this one sounded better with rich deep tones and a serious bite on the treble p/u. The volume takes a lot of movement to get results but I consider it an advantage and thats what volume pedals are for anyway. The action was a little high from the fact. but perfect for me. The frets could probably use a dressing but any time away at the shop would be a musical travesty so I'll just polish them up by bends and vibrato exploits, it's better that way. The finish is satin (cherry). It seems to have been applied very lightly like Lennons Casino. Is that why it sounds so good? Did someone at Gibson have a Stradivarius gene? Is it the R.I. P/U's? If this is laminate I don't want whole wood. Whatever, I really, really like it.

I recently played this guitar and it does the 335 name justice. the neck was sort of slow but with some polish i think it will play great. im saving up right now to purchase this guitar. its that good. for around $800 less than the 335 ressiue this is really worth buying. With a twin revereb... its the best!
