Lyons only collects sales tax on shipments to Indiana (IN), Washington (WA), Utah (UT), Missouri (MO), and California (CA).
How do I know if an item is in stock?
All Lyons items are clearly marked if they are in stock, such as in the example to the right.
Once you submit your order, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that provides a link for tracking the status of your order. In the event an item or items associated with your order is not available from stock, we will notify you within 48 hours with an estimated ship date. In addition, you can access your order history and order status by clicking on My Account. Or, you can call us or drop us an e-mail.
When will I be charged?
If an item you order is in stock or if the item drop ships directly from the manufacturer to you, your credit card is charged immediately.
If an item is backordered from the manufacturer, your credit card will not be charged until the item is ready to ship to you from our warehouse.
To avoid delays in processing your order please provide the billing address and phone number that is on file with your credit card company. Orders shipped to an alternate address, meaning an address not on file with your credit card company, may result in a delay in processing.
Do your electronic items work in all countries?
Lyons sells items that run on 110 volt electricity (USA Standard), unless otherwise noted.
If your country has other than 110 Volts (220 Volts is common), severe damage may result IF you use this item without a voltage converter. A simple plug adapter is not enough; you also need to convert the power to 110 Volts.
Lyons accepts no responsibility for any claim resulting from damage caused by power usage other than 110 volt.

All sensitive information (credit cards, phone numbers, addresses, etc.) is encrypted for transfer to our server. It won't be able to be intercepted and decrypted because the key resides only on our network servers.
How do I make changes to or cancel an order?
You can make changes to your order at any time during the order process before you give final confirmation of the order.
After your order has been submitted, you can change the order by contacting a Customer Service Associate at 1-800-292-4955. To provide the quickest possible delivery of your merchandise, we process "in-stock" orders immediately. As a result, we cannot make any changes to your order after the verification process has been completed.

What are my shipping options?
We offer Next Day and 2 Day delivery, as well as standard ground shipping. Our ground shipping is sent via FedEx or USPS. Orders going outside the US are sent via UPS. Oversized items need to ship via truck. Please note that we do not ship on weekends or holidays.
Most order ship within 48 hours.
When will my order ship?
Orders shipped via “Next Day”, “2 Day” or “3 Day” Service placed by 2 pm Eastern Time will ship same day. (This excludes weekends and holidays and pending address verification and credit card approvals.)
Verified orders shipped via ground to the contiguous US will be shipped within 48 hours and usually arrive within 5 - 7 business days.
US orders only. For oversized items shipped via freight, or for deliveries outside of the contiguous US – call for delivery times.
Does Lyons ship internationally?
We ship virtually anywhere in the world using USPS.
Some restrictions on shipping abroad are imposed by the certain manufacturers, for instance Yamaha products can only ship to addresses within the US. Please contact us for details. Orders to be shipped to APO and FPO addresses can only be delivered by the US Postal Service. A few oversized items we sell can not be delivered to APO and FPO addresses because of US Postal Service size restrictions.

All woodwind and brass instruments that are returned are assessed a $10.00 sterilization fee. Instruments priced over $3000.00 are assessed a $20.00 fee.
All mouthpieces and bows are assessed a $4.00 fee. Mouthpieces priced over $300 are assessed a $8.00 fee.
Microphones, wireless products, recording equipment (Multi track, Hard Disk, DAT, CD, Tape Recorders and Duplicators) are returnable for store credit only.

Items that are returned in a condition less than described will be assessed a 15% restocking fee.

Instrument Trial Returns
We offer a 10 day (excluding shipping time) trial period. Return the item(s) to us including warranty cards, mouthpieces, etc. Use the original packaging and boxes. We recommend using FedEx or UPS. Be sure to cover the original shipping address on the outside carton. For your protection, please retain the tracking number. Please insure the package for the value of the merchandise. To qualify for a full refund, less the cost of shipping both ways, merchandise must be received in our warehouse in new or like new condition. Item(s) received in a damaged or unexpected condition will be assessed a restocking fee.

Select Custom 48 hour Approval Policy
Select custom instruments have a 48-hour approval period. Should a return be desired, it must be initiated within 48 hours of receipt. To qualify for a full refund, less the cost of shipping both ways, merchandise must be received in our warehouse within 10 days of original receipt. The instrument must be returned in the same condition as it was shipped, with all shipping materials, hangtags, certificates and warranty cards included.
Returning Items Damaged in Shipping
Your order is carefully packed to exceed FedEx and USPS shipping requirements. If an item arrives damaged:
Call us within 72 hours for return instructions. To qualify for return shipping, you must notify us of any problems within 72 hours of receipt.
Repack using all original packing materials and boxes. Include all original packaging, accessories (e.g. power adapters, mouthpieces, etc.) and paperwork (e.g. owner's manual, warranty card, etc.).
We will arrange to have FedEx pickup the item and carefully inspect it for shipping damage, before returning it to us. Upon receiving the returned merchandise, we will send out a replacement.
When to expect your credit or refund
Your return will be processed within 48 hours once it is received. Your merchandise refund or credit will be posted to your credit card. Most credits are viewable on your credit card account within five business days. If you paid with a check or money order, you will be sent a refund check. Please allow 14 days for processing.

The next page is simply a form to fill in your information. The top left section is your "Billing Address". This is the address that your credit card or bank statements come to. To avoid delays in processing your order please make sure the billing address and phone number you provide are the same address and phone that is on file with your credit card company. Discrepancies can delay fulfillment of your order.

What is Lyons’s Warranty Policy?
Lyons is an authorized dealer for all brands we carry on our site, and all brand new items come with a manufacturers’ warranty. We strongly encourage you to fill out and send the warranty cards to the manufacturers upon receipt of your purchase. You have 2 options should your instruments need warranty repairs covered by the manufacturer:
Local repair shop
We highly recommend that you take the instrument to the local authorized repair facility and have the warranty repairs done there. This will be the quickest way to have your instrument repaired.
Send it to us
You also have the option to send the instrument to Lyons and we will take care of the warranty repairs. You are responsible for shipping charges to and from Lyons. We recommend that your insure your package as well. Please be aware that your repair could be delayed if we have to send it to an authorized repair facility.

Read the warranty carefully… although some of the top manufacturers offer lifetime warranties, the coverage is limited. Usually there are numerous restrictions. Unfortunately those restrictions are where the problems usually occur! Example: Some guitar manufacturers offer a Lifetime Warranty, however the "lifetime" portion is on the neck. The electronics (pickups, pots, slides, switches) are only covered for one year!
Should I buy a One Year or Two Year plan?

Where can I learn more about Lyons?
1928
The company now known simply as "LYONS" was originally incorporated as "LYONS BAND INSTRUMENT CO." by Wm. H. Lyons, Howard R. Lyons, and Clarence L. McCreery. Capt. Lou Walz, band director at Lake View High School in Chicago suggested a rental instruments plan for beginning music students. A plan was devised and was a great success.
1936
Lyons published a newspaper called "The Lyons Band News and Kjos Music News". The paper contained articles of interest to band directors, including new items, successful programs in various schools, and teaching tips. The paper was sent out four times a year and a complete catalogue of band instruments and accessories was printed and mailed every two years.
1940
With the invention of the Swanson tonette, Lyons saw it could be used as a pre-band instrument. Forrest Buchtel, a Chicago area music teacher, wrote the Lyons instruction book titled "Melody Fun". Notes and fingerings were shown in semi-cartoon form, which made it fun and easy for lower grade students to follow. Students were then able to learn musical skills that would be beneficial when a band instrument was taken up later.
1946
A new catalogue was published containing a complete tonette program, rhythm band instruments, band room equipment and a line of pins, medals, and trophies. A questionnaire was sent to colleges asking if they would want a list of outstanding graduating students in high school musical organizations since no nationally recognized music medal was available. The response was very favorable, so Lyons created the Arion Award program, and has been available to high school students since 1948. Many students have been able to receive college scholarships as a result of winning the Arion Award.
1967
Lyons introduced a new instruction book for Tonette and Flutophone titled "Modern Musical Fun". This book was supplied in the preband outfits, and it still is today. In 1969, the decision was made by Lyons to sell of the rental instrument business. The sale included all band and orchestra rental instruments, repair shops, and the sheet music department.
1970
The Selmer Company purchased the assets and the name Lyons. With the sale of the instrumental end of the business, Selmer investigated other areas into which Lyons could expand. A variety of early childhood instructional material were then added to the Lyons catalog. Selmer moved Lyons closer to their main plant in Elkhart, Indiana in 1974 and a year later; Mr. Dave Von Gunter was brought in to take over management of the company. He arranged for the manufacture of the Choral Risers Lyons introduced the following year, and expanded catalog distribution to churches in the United States.
1996
Lyons entered the technology age of Internet retailing. The company placed a simple version of the printed catalog on the Internet for customers to view products. A printable order form was available so customers could place orders by fax or mail. A new undertaking with the Lyons website came in 2003 when an e-commerce package was added to the website so customers could place their orders over the website as an alternative option to standard phone or mailed orders.
