"Great Value, Great Instrument!"

I have two Lyons Xylophones in my classroom - an alto and a soprano. For the price, they are a great value. They are sturdy and hold up to the beatings my music students impart on them. The one downside (and it's a small one) are the rubber nails that hold the bars - they are constructed of one long piece of rubber atop the nails. This doesn't hold the bar down as securely as I would like and my kindergarteners tend to make the bars bounce off as they play too hard. This isn't too much of a problem except with those little ones who are learning to be gentle. Over all, it's a great alternative to some of the more expensive models!

Like everywhere else, money is tight in our school's budget. I ordered Lyon's xylophones last year, and I am ordering 2 more this year. I am satisfied with the quality. I have had no problems, and these are the least expensive you will find anywhere!

"Kid-durability/Comparison to Studio49"

The metal pegs at the top of the bar is a little hard to deal with. My students keep bending them because they are used to the Studio49 bar pegs that are moveable plastic. This is avoidable with instruction, but still, it's something to think about. I like how the instrument is more affordable than Studio49. It's makes it easier for me to get more instruments into my instrumentarium. I did notice a small tuning problem with one of the bars on my deep bass, though. I need to have it adjusted.
