Detailed Product Description

YOB-241

Newly designed, highly polished bore
The new bore design which incorporates vertical integration is similar to that of the YOB-841 professional model. This results in improved projection and improved tonal qualities.

Newly designed undercut tone hole design
Also similar to the YOB-841, the new taper to the tone hole design provides the player with a smooth response and even intonation.

Nickel-silver bell ring
The bell ring increases effective density of the bell for a quicker response and a more focused sound.

French taper pivot screws
French taper pivot screws are designed for precise adjustment and increased longevity.

Stainless steel springs
Durability, key balance and a more comfortable feel are all benefits of using stainless steel as the spring material.

This instrument has a lovely tone. The keywork is somewhat on the light side but will hold out. The tone holes did not have any undercut on the new instrument I rented. The synthetic body is great for playing in any temperature or humidity. On my instrument, the middle C# was hard to speak. I adjusted all the relevant keys and still could not achieve a clear response. The position of the middle D key is lower than the right hand F natural key. This caused me to tough the F natural key and create a leak when playing C#. I have played Loree, Selmer and Thibeau and am waiting for my Covey. I think that these professional instruments are easier to play.

This is a good oboe if you're shopping for a beginner oboist. I played it until high school.
